Everyday I come to DA it's a treat. I like looking at all the offerings from my fellow deviants all over the world. Sometimes there's a tinge of guilt there when I get a compliment that I think  is completely undeserved or when I know I should upload more art and generally be productive ( I would put MORE productive, but you have to BE productive first). The only time I've ever come to DA and felt sad was when I learned of the passing of Mike Weiringo. I only knew Mike as a fan, but I'd spoken with him whenever I saw him and even if he didn't remember me he was warm and open. I thought I'd never feel that way again.  I hoped I'd never feel that way again.

Today I came to DA to get my daily fill of eye candy and I read the news of the passing of Bruce Brown. I've "known" Bruce for years. From struggling to do something worth reading over at the writer's board at Penciljack to scrambling to find his latest Batman backup to finally getting to see him get his long deserved just due at the helm of the Brit series under PJ alumnus Robert Kirkman. We'd hold shop annually at HeroesCon to give cheer after accomplishments and encouragement after failures. Even when I was at wits end and ready to cash in all my chips he always came with a new spin, a pat on the back and a kick in the pants to get me back on track.

From Drunk Punches to Parking Spaces to artist jams to Brit. Bruce was the guy I looked to as an example of what's possible if you stop making excuses and did the work. I KNOW we only saw the tip of his latent, immense talent and I'm sorry everyone didn't have the chance to see what I always knew was there waiting patiently to break through.

Bruce Reb, Kimo Brown, you are an inspiration and you'll surely be missed.

PARATROOPER FRIENDS:   Are for life.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS:  Have shared a few experiences. ..
PARATROOPER FRIENDS:  Have shared a lifetime of experiences no citizen could ever dream of...

CIVILIAN FRIENDS:  Will take your drink away when they think you've had enough.
PARATROOPER FRIENDS:  Will look at you stumbling all over the place and say, 'You better drink the rest of that before you spill it!!'  Then carry you home safely and put you to bed...

CIVILIAN FRIENDS:  Will talk crap to the person who talks crap about you.
PARATROOPER FRIENDS:  Will knock them the hell out for using your name in vain.

There are those that think they understand. And then,. . . . there are Paratroopers
